SPIEF-2018: Business lunch EAEU-ASEAN

In order to promote cooperation with the ASEAN Member States on the May 23, 2018 the RABC in cooperation with Roscongress Foundation and Eurasian econimic comission conducted a business lunch "Development of trade and economic cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and ASEAN. The role of Russia” within the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2018). The co-organizers of the event were the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Roscongress Foundation. The meeting of Russian, Eurasian and ASEAN business communities in such format at SPIEF was held for the first time. The business lunch was attended by the government officials and business representatives of the ASEAN Member States, including Deputy Minister of trade and industry of Vietnam Hoang Quoc Vuong, Chairman of the Philippine-Russian Business Assembly Armi Lopez Garcia, Director for operations of ASEAN Business Club Hong Ju Khee, Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese businessmen in Russia Le Truong Son and others. Also business leaders of Russian and Eurasian major companies took part in the event. During the business lunch the participants had discussed prospective areas for economic cooperation between Russia and ASEAN, as well as problems and challenges for developing mutually beneficial trade, economic and investment interaction between Russian, Eurasian and ASEAN business. Ivan Polyakov, Chairman of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council noted in his speech the need to promote direct Russian-ASEAN business contacts, the need of supporting of Russian-ASEAN economic projects, as well as the benefit of sharing experience between Eurasian Economic Union and ASEAN. "Nowadays we have positive business cases for Russia-ASEAN economic cooperation including investment projects of TH Milk (Vietnam) and CP Group (Thailand) in Russia in the area of agricultural processing, as well as the interaction of the Russian Kamaz Group and Indonesian PT Tehnika on the export issues of Kamaz trucks to Indonesia with the possibility of establishment assembly production in Indonesia", - said Ivan Polyakov. "The most promising areas of Russia-ASEAN cooperation are energy, manufacturing and technology, timber industry, information and communication technologies, digital economy projects", - underlined Ivan Polyakov. The Minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission for Integration and Macroeconomics Tatyana Valovaya noted in her speech that the intensity of contacts with the ASEAN region is observed both on the track of cooperation of the EAEU with each ASEAN Member State and at the level of the whole association cooperation. “EAEU is at the final stage of signing the MoU between Eurasian Economic Commission and ASEAN", - said Tatyana Valovaya.
